NEW GOOD NEWS FOR PEOPLE WITH ANAPHYLAXIS - A NEW DELIVERY DEVICE THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE INJECTING!
Another new adrenaline device, called ‘neffy®’ has been registered by the Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA). It will be available in Australia in mid-2026 (date yet to be confirmed*). In addition to the EpiPen® and JEXT adrenaline devices, both of which are delivered by injection, neffy® devices are nasal sprays. To operate these devices, the device’s smooth nozzle is gently inserted into one of the casualty’s nostrils and the medication is squirted into their nose, whereupon emergency services should be immediately after use. This is great news, especially for those people who do not like injections! This medication does away with the need to inject the medication into the casualty’s thigh, as is required by Anapen® s and JEXT® s.
*Stay tuned for supply dates (to be announced)!
